The last twenty six years have gone by in a flash – we’re now in semi-retirement after having a gift and coffee shop in Helensburgh, stocking a variety of Scottish gifts, jewellery and home-baking. How we managed all the years of doing seven days a week I’ll never know. It seems really surreal now.
The town has had a makeover, courtesy of Argyll and Bute Council, and now is the time for the new owners of our shop at 89 West Clyde Street, Helensburgh to put their stamp on our old business premises. Argyll Chandlers Ltd are targeting their business firmly at the local yachting/sailing fraternity – and, when we were driving round the Rosneath peninsula yesterday, we got a quick reminder of just how many folks own and berth their boats in the area.
The weather’s much improved today in time for the official opening of the shop, so we’re wishing Bill, Christine and family much success.

I’d love to hear your review of these items.
We had our downstairs bathroom remodelled this time last year. In fact, last year was the start of a traumatic journey because of some health issues and it was those health issues which inspired us to go ahead and create a walk-in shower in our downstairs utility area.
Since we moved into this house, we’ve had Mira showers of one kind or another. To be truthful, we’ve just had two of them – and between them, they’ve lasted 25 years. So, we’re fans.
I came across some reviews for this shower and thought you might be interested:
“I bought this Mira sport shower unit to replace an identical model which we have had for years. It took our local plumber about 30 minutes to remove the old unit and replace with this new one. The plumber agreed that this is the best shower of it’s type available at the moment, and Argos was by far the best price that I could find for this product.”
“Easy to install and use. Nice and powerful and would recommend to others. Just make sure that you have a 40amp fused otherwise it will keep tripping the fuse box.”
Although they’re not new to the market, we came across these adorable salt and pepper mills which come with a small serving of peppercorns and salt crystals.
Turn screw clockwise to tighten the mechanism and produce a fine grind, and anti-clockwise to produce a coarse grind. To re-fill the pepper or salt mill fully unscrew the knob and take off the top.
High Quality Materials
David Mason Design only use the highest grade materials. The design, manufacture and production of mills is tightly controlled to ensure quality throughout the process.
Spring Tension System
All mills incorporate a copyrighted “Spring Tension” system. This helps in the adjustment of the grinder via the “screw knob” for either pepper or salt depending on what is being used in your mill.
Advanced polyacetal – renowned for strength, durability and consistency of grind over time.
They’re not cheap at £26.99 plus postage but they’re great quality and such a nice gift for the skittlers among you!
